Here we see a female head smiling. In itself an impossibility of artistic representation, since smiles and laughter are only momentary; frozen solid they appear spasmodic, sometimes almost painful. Here, too, the smile is only happy at first, the longer you look, the more tense it becomes, and the more the funny impression disappears.

Why do we laugh, smile? In which situation is it an action, when is it a reaction and when is it purely a protective mechanism?

Hier sehen wir einen weiblichen Kopf, der lächelt. Schon an sich eine Unmöglichkeit der künstlerischen Darstellung, da Lächeln und Lachen nur momentan sind; festgefroren erscheinen sie krampfhaft, manchmal fast schmerzhaft. Auch hier ist das Lächeln auch nur im ersten Moment ein fröhliches, je länger man hinschaut desto verkrampfter wird es, desto mehr schwindet der lustige Eindruck.

Warum lachen, lächeln wir? In welchen Situation ist es eine Aktion, wann eine Reaktion und wann ein reiner Schutzmechanismus?
